Going into the exam I felt more confident that I was for the Network+. I was constantly getting in the mid-70s but was able to pass the exam. This most likely will result in lower test scores, but do not be discouraged. One caveat I did have with the exam is that it tests you on some things that aren't on the exam objectives. What's also great about these practice exams is that it'll tell you why each answer is correct, and why the rest are wrong. There are also tons of performance based questions which will really prepare you for the actual exam. Questions are worded very similarly to how you will find on the actual exam. I had also used this for the Network+ exam, and it didn't let me down again. I am fortunate enough to have my work pay for it. Unfortunately this isn't normally free, but it is included with a CBT Nuggets subscription. I didn't bother purchasing his Security+ notes this time, as I had done for the Network+. What's also extremely useful is that he breaks his content down into exam objectives, allowing you to go back and review certain sections that you performed poorly on in a practice exam. Each video is short in length, but contains good information needed to pass the exam. Having good success using Professor Messer's videos for the Network+ exam, I had high hopes for his Security+ training videos. Lurking here on Reddit I often read about certs vs college degree. I'm actually attending a local community college here in Hawaii to at least get my associates - majoring in computer science. Never did finish college, so that put me at a real disadvantage in progressing career wise. My work also pays for my study material and exam costs, so that really helps. I'm really ambitious about advancing my career through certifications (I'm hoping that my motivation stays with me). Quick background on me - Currently working help desk at a corporate level for about 2.5 years. There are quite a bit of exam objectives that overlap each other. Having already passed the Network+ really helped to shorten the amount of studying that needed to be done for the Security+ exam. I studied just about every day for at least an hour or two during the weekdays and a bit more on the weekends.
